Pet Acoustics

 Just as music can be relaxing for us, it can also relax our pets. The Pet Acoustics app provides calming music for your pet that is custom-created for animals’ unique hearing sensitivities in terms of frequency, volume, and rhythm. A great tool for rest time, separation anxiety, thunderstorm nervousness, car travel, veterinary visits, walks, grooming, puppy and kitten training, or for quiet time. Tracks available for dogs, cats, and horses. Purchase at the iTunes store for $1.99. Not yet available for Android, but albums are available to download.

American Red Cross Pet First Aid

 Although the Pet First Aid app isn’t a substitute for attending a pet first aid class in person, it does put basic emergency first aid advice is the palm of your hand. In addition to first aid instructions and videos, you can locate the nearest emergency vet hospital, customize multiple pet profiles, increase your knowledge through interactive quizzes, and find out what is considered “normal” for your dog or cat. Available and free for both iPhone and Android.

Dog Land

 The social app for dogs and their people. With Dog Land you can find dog friendly spots, add tips about places you’ve been to, vote for your favorite places, mark your territory, and share photos of your furry buddies. Available and free for iOS only.

iCam Pro Webcam Video Streaming and iCamSource Pro

  Ever wonder just how your dog opens the fridge, if he’s really barking all day, or how your kitty spends her day? With  iCam Pro Webcam Video Streaming loaded on your mobile device and iCamSource Pro on your computer or mobile device at home you can view live audio and video from anywhere. Available for $4.99 for both iPhone and Android. You'll need iCam Pro Service ($9.99 lifetime or $0.99 monthly subscription) in order to stream from one wifi network to another. One point to consider: this app is an energy hog. You’ll find that the battery will drain quickly when using any devices with this app.

MapMyDogwalk

 With MapMyDogwalk (from MapMyFitness) you and your dog can get fit together: log your walks, track your calories, and map your favorite routes. This app also has sharing and geotagging features for photos and data. Available and free for both iPhone and Android.

Cruelty-Free

 Use this handy shopping guide to look up cruelty-free cosmetic, personal care, and household products. Published by the Coalition for Consumer Information on Cosmetics’ Leaping Bunny Program, this guide lists over 200 US and Canadian companies that do not test ingredients, formulations, or finished products on animals. The Leaping Bunny Program certifies that no new animal testing is used, so you can be confident about your cruelty-free shopping choices. Available and free for both iPhone and Android.

Finding Rover

 Finding Rover uses facial recognition technology to help you and your pet dog get reunited. Follow their instructions to take a front-facing photo of your dog, or one that you’ve found, then upload the photo. When the need arises, Finding Rover will alert a network of local dog organizations, members, and social media. Available and free for both iPhone and Android.

Pet Poison Helpline

 The Pet Poison Helpline app provides access to a comprehensive database of foods, drugs, chemicals, and plants commonly found in the house and yard. It includes more than 250 toxins, each with a description, list of symptoms, and a full color photo for easy identification. Available and free for both iPhone and Android.

Dog Whistle for iPhone

   Ever consider using a dog whistle to train your dog but not sure what frequency is most effective? Well, try the Dog Whistle app from Augware or the Dog Whistler Pro from Mobeezio. There are various settings you can use to help dogs relate certain sound patterns to specific behaviors. The app also features a bark detector that triggers a tone when sound level exceeds a threshold. Available for free but only for iOS, however, there are other similar apps available for Android.
